Do you know the alternatives to air conditioning during heatwaves?

Fighting against the effects of heat is not necessarily very spectacular.

There are a multitude of habits and climatic gestures that we sometimes use intuitively to cool down or mitigate the effects of the heat: changing sidewalks to walk in the shade, moving a chair to be in a draft, drinking a glass of water…

All these elements contribute to maintaining what engineer Robert Célaire calls “discreet comfort”, that is to say all the comfort parameters which can be actively and directly modulated by the inhabitant or user ( air temperature, radiation received, air speed, etc.).

In order to pay tribute to “discreet comfort” and to all these climatic gestures, I launched a communication campaign entitled “Have you thought about turning on the air conditioning? » with the aim of disseminating and promoting these passive strategies.

These visuals have been designed to be printed in A3 format while minimizing the impact of their printing: they use Ecofont typography which reduces ink consumption by around 25% compared to a conventional font and the images in black and white have been converted to Bitmap format to simplify gradients.

The aim of these posters is to raise awareness of all the climate actions which constitute alternatives to air conditioning in summer and during heat waves.

This is the approach of the Freio design office.

The maximum efficiency temperature values are extremely conservative, particularly for air fans.

Recent studies claim that this type of technique is effective and produces a cooling sensation for temperatures well above 32°C, provided you have sufficiently dry air and light clothing.
